This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Host & Compute Secure Interoperability Capabilities Section.
Duties
Serves as a senior Information Technology Specialist Technical Support Specialist providing support to customers who need assistance utilizing client level hardware and software using established or approved organizational process components.
Uses working knowledge of LINUX environments and applications management to perform as a System Administrator, who installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware, software, and administers system accounts.
Provides input into the physical storage requirements based upon the volume of data, data relationships, size of records, anticipated growth and access methods.
Serves as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative to monitor software development contracts to ensure compliance with specifications and ensures vendor products meet performance requirements and are cost effective.

- This position is subject to Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the DoD 8140 policy series for the position's required CYBER Work Role(s).
- This is a Mission Essential position.
- Position is subject to recall during off shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and may be subject to varying work shifts and work shift rotations for mission support requirement of 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
- 24 x 7 Shift work is required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience developing, testing and implementing new or existing application software, and system administration in Linux and experience providing authoritative technical advice to customers by examining and evaluating alternate means of satisfying customers' rapidly changing business requirements.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-12 grade level.
