About the Position: This position is located with the Installation Safety Office, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.

Duties

Serves as the principal technical authority to the Garrison Commander and all levels of management regarding implementation and execution of the Army Safety Program. Develops, implements, plans, directs and controls a comprehensive safety and occupational health program involving a wide variety of industrial processes, shops, equipment and material. Plans, assigns, and evaluates work of subordinates. Formulates written procedures for implementation of command safety policy guidance. Initiates development of garrison supplements and directives on safety and occupational health.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is subject to a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • The incumbent of this position is designated as "Emergency / Essential" and will be required to report to work during emergencies and inclement weather conditions.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Managing Human ResourcesPublic Safety and SecuritySafety and HealthTechnical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. You must meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements.
