Duties

Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Manager for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) [SOAR (Abn)] supporting its four rapidly deployable geographically dispersed subordinate battalions and activities. Plan, organize, administer, and conduct safety management evaluations of subordinate units with special attention directed toward identifying shortcomings in risk management integration. Serves as the principal technical advisor to the USASOAC Safety and Occupational Health Manager, the Commander, staffs and all levels of management regarding current and proposed programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This is a deployable position. Must be deployable throughout CONUS and OCONUS in support of operations and training exercises.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time.
  • This is a Career Program-12 position. All CP12 careerists are required to obtain and maintain Level I skills CP12 Safety and CP12 Explosives Level 1 certifications as outlined in the CP12 ACTEDS Plan within 12 months of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as the principal civilian safety and occupational health specialist for the Command Safety Program and principal staff advisor to the USASOAC Director of Safety, the Commander and staffs on all SOH issues and prevention matters. Determines the need for, initiates, and coordinates projects, design reviews, accident prevention, safety program management, safety policies, Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) procedures and execution, occupational safety procedure. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection and Program ManagementSafety and Health Training and EducationSafety and Occupational Health (SOH) Hazard Control Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
