About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Plans and Operations Division, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Duties
Plan, schedule, and conduct safety readiness through safety assessments/inspections of unit worksites.
Evaluate a wide variety of potential hazards related to the unit mission; and identify hazardous work processes, materials, and unsafe environmental conditions.
Provide leaders with risk mitigation courses of action and assist in implementation of corrective actions of hazardous conditions.
Conduct studies of accident causal factors to identify predictive trend analysis to devise effective methods to mitigate safety hazards.
Plan, develop, administer, and evaluate unit-wide safety and occupational health surveillance and enforcement program.
Administer and oversee the unit Respiratory Protection Program.
Plan and conduct safety education activities; develop specialized safety courses; develop and promote safety campaign materials; and ensure safety standards are published.
Lead, direct, and/or advise mishap investigation boards to ascertain causal factors precipitating fatalities, serious injuries, or substantial property damage.
Develop safety standards, policies, and procedural guidelines.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- In accordance with Army Regulation 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
- In the event of a crisis situation or wartime, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties and requirements of the position to ensure the success of combat operations or to support combat essential systems.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5500-7-R.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent to pass an appropriate physical examination for overseas duty.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a government passport.
- This position requires the incumbent to be subject to on-call and irregular work hours.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position which includes 1) Conducting safety and occupational health inspections; 2) Preparing written reports of inspection findings; 3) Developing safety measures for organizations to eliminate and/or minimize safety hazards; and 4) Providing guidance on workplace safety. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
