About the Position: This position is located at Naval Health Care New England (NHCNE), Newport, Rhode Island.

Duties
The incumbent is responsible for referral tracking for both MTF appointed specialty care and specialty care deferred to the civilian sector.
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the NHCNE Referral Management Database at optimal levels to ensure accurate report generation.
The incumbent obtains the initial specialty care appointment date, civilian provider demographic information to include name, address, and phone number, and the date MTF and civilian results are received.
The incumbent is responsible for retrieval of both MTF and civilian generated specialty care reports and ensuring MTF referring provider reviews and signs specialty care reports prior to medical record entry.
This action directly contributes to the Command meeting its Joint Commission Accreditation Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requirement of 100% retrieval of results.
The incumbent must utilize multiple media systems i.e., the Composite Health Care System (CHCS), the Coordinated care System (CCS), phone and correspondence to effectively populate the NHCNE Referral Management Database.
The incumbent must use effective interview skills, tact and discretion in obtaining medical information from the provider of services.
The incumbent may be required to attend TRICARE and other mission-oriented training when necessary and as travel funding permits.
The incumbent may be tasked with special projects, including research, support, and other duties as required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing various automated systems to produce documents and reports; screening incoming mail and/or electronic messages; tracking referrals for various facilities; and maintaining office records and automated calendars. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
