About the Position: Serve as a Human Resources Specialist (Military) with responsibility for providing technical advice and guidance regarding a wide variety of military management programs with procedural authority on all aspects of military personnel administration.

Duties

Provides advice and consultation to the Director, Soldier and Family Assistance Center on a wide variety of military HR matters. Maintain current and projected unit strength data, utilizing military HR personnel databases. Utilize automated military HR systems such as Electronic Military Personnel Office (eMILPO) on a routine basis to determine up-to-date status on enlisted and officer records Serve as a Human Resources (HR) Specialist (Military) responsible for planning, monitoring, and implementing military personnel management.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Providing Military human resources advisory services; (2) Analyzing data from personnel data bases (3) Utilizing automated personnel systems for personnel functions such as personnel actions, evaluations, awards and record updates (4) Providing guidance on personnel issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources or Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityComputer LiteracyCustomer ServiceProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
