You will serve as a Funeral Honors and Casualty Assistant in the Casualty Assistance Calls and Funeral Honors Support Programs of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK.
Duties
You will coordinate casualty assistance for service members and their families.
You will coordinate funeral honors with a casualty assistance team, funeral honors program members, funeral or cemetery director, next of kin, and other interested parties to include and update personnel.
You will verify the eligibility of veterans to receive military funeral honors.
You will advise customers of regulations and standards to ensure applications are submitted correctly.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Providing assistance for funeral programs and supporting the Casualty Assistance Program such as receiving requests, confirming details, verifying eligibility and assigning personnel;
2) Processing benefit claims, coordinating travel requirements, and managing case files;
3) Effectively communicating with a diverse range of personnel and private citizens at all levels, both orally and in writing.
