You will serve as a CASUALTY ASSISTANCE CALLS/FUNERAL HONORS SUPPORT ASSISTANT (DTS) in the CAC/FHS PROGRAM of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK.

Duties

You will serve as the Defense Travel System (DTS) subject matter expert (SME) to develop and implement comprehensive plans and strategies. You will verify that traveler voucher and profile data is accurate and adheres to governing policies/instructions. You will analyze travel documents, reports, and organizational data. You will update and maintain Program financial tracking tools for use by managers. You will perform a variety of budgetary and administrative functions in implementing the organization's travel program, policies, and procedures. You will serve as a specialist in all aspects of the Military Funeral Honors (MFH) Program and will be responsible for scheduling MFH and administering the FHS program in the area of responsibility for the assigned region. You will receive requests for MFH via email, fax, or phone call and will confirm request details with funeral home and/or family and initiates request in HONORS Tracker. You will verify the eligibility of the veteran to receive MFH using HONORS Tracker or information received from the requestor. You will coordinate and schedule Navy Chaplains to conduct the religious aspects of funeral services when requested and support is available.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Administering funeral programs and support Casualty Assistance Calls Program by receiving requests, confirming details, verifying eligibility and assigning personnel; 2) Communicating both orally and written with funeral personnel and private citizens, and 3) Providing assistance by processing benefit claims, coordinating travel requirements, and managing case files.
