You will serve as a Supervisory Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist in the Spectrum Warfare Department of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV POINT MUGU.

Duties

You will be responsible for maintaining open and transparent communication, regularly engaging with employees, and providing updates through Branch/Division/Department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and email. You will interface with product customers to assess workforce personnel needs, perform workforce planning, recruiting, and hiring, establish placement plans, identify assignments, and meet the mission execution needs and expectations. You will monitor personnel performance and provide effective performance feedback using performance management processes, recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources as necessary. You will be responsible for implementing NAWCWD Command policies and regulations and maintain employee work schedules, including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations, and paid time off. You will provide primary supervision for Branch employees, such as timecards and travel.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09-12) or pay band (NM-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Supervisory Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Developing and mentoring others within an Engineering and Scientific Development Professionals (ESDP) program; (2) Utilizing oral and written communication skills; (3) Performing work related to the mission and business profile of the organization; (4) Working independently with minimal supervision, taking initiative to identify and solve problems, and implementing process improvements to enhance the workforce; and (5) Utilizing products and technologies associated with the department, with the ability to clearly explain their basic functionality. 08XX Series:
Successful completion of a degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
A combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

1520 Series:
Successful completion of a degree in mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics
OR
A combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

1550 Series:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
