You will serve as an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist in the Spectrum Warfare Department, Spectrum Mission Data & Info Division of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV POINT MUGU.

Duties

You will guide the development of Mission Data (MD) and Mission Information (MI) engineering products and services across the full systems life cycle for avionics, sensors, and spectrum warfare systems. You will be responsible for the definition and consistency of technical specifications and standards across the division and technical consistency across programs and sites. You will advise on, administer, or perform work concerned with applied research, engineering or architectural projects, facilities, structures, systems, processes, equipment, devices, material or methods. You will provide technically sound advice and guidance on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development. You will assist in determining the direction of the project and provide advice on new and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band (DP-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate duties related to the following: 1) Supporting database design by creating data models, optimizing performance, and integrating with avionics, sensors, and spectrum warfare systems; 2) Leading software architecture efforts to align with business priorities and support agile development for mission-critical systems; 3) Utilizing Structured Query Language (SQL) to optimize system performance and validate data for electronic warfare systems; 4) Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to design, optimize, and validate systems for electronic warfare. Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. For 1520:

A. Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.

For 1550:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
