About the Position: Position may be filled as a Term Appointment not to exceed 13 months. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years, up to eight years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight years. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Perform long-range planning and analysis for IG inspections.
Conduct and participate in on-site systematic and follow-up inspections.
Develop and write inspection plans to conduct assistance and investigative alone and as a team member.
Receive cases, conduct preliminary analysis, and determine case disposition.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- Pre-employment and random thereafter drug testing required.
- Temporary duty travel (TDY) up to 50% of the time required.
- This position has been designated as Emergency Essential and is deployable.
- Pre-deployment physical required.
- Must attend and pass The Inspector General School within one year of employment as well as periodic sustainment training and recertification IAW AR 20-1.
- Applicants referred for consideration will be subject to a database check against the Army’s IGARS database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigations. An SSN and current resume are required to conduct the background investigation.
- Selectee will be required to sign a TERM Statement of Understanding.
- One-year term trial period required.
- This position is obligated to the previous incumbent.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience which includes 1) conducting investigations/inspections in response to complaints of law and regulation violations; 2) collecting and reviewing information to determine the validity of allegations; 3) training commanders, Soldiers, and Civilians at all levels on current Army policy and doctrine; and 4) preparing recommendations for corrective action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11).
Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for required experience to qualify. For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. Substitution of education for experience is NOT permitted.
