About the Position: Serves as the Deputy Command Inspector General (IG) for the V Corps, providing area support for all assigned and rotational forces.
Duties
Conducts follow-up assessments of inspections to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the corrective action taken when required or directed by the Commanding General.
Exercises delegated supervisory authority and responsibilities over assigned personnel.
Provide Staff functions.
Conducts investigations and investigative inquiries as directed by the commander or as prescribed by law or regulation.
Provide civilian support to combat operations but could also deploy to non-combat locations in response to contingencies, disaster relief or other emergency operations.
Determines the state of the command’s discipline, efficiency, economy, morale, training, and readiness as directed by the commander.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance.
- This position requires a drug test and random testing thereafter.
- This position is "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Must be able to attend and graduate the US Army Inspector General School, and maintain certification in accordance with AR 20-1.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is supervisory. A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position is "Mission Essential".

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting analysis of incoming complaints and requirements to determine proper course of action for investigation, referral, or closure; developing recommendations for referral to Commanders and Directors to fix issues; participating as a team member, conducting investigations and assistance to include complex cases referred from DOD IG and across the command; and participating in writing final investigative reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS13).
