About the Position: This is a permanent position with U.S Army Recruiting Command, Headquarters, Inspector General; Investigations and Assistance Division, located at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Duties
Conduct and participate in performing on-site systematic and follow-up inspections, inquiries and investigation of subordinate command organizations.
Develop recommendations as to the required corrective action or revision in methods and procedures.
Prepare formal report of findings citing specific examples and substantiation thereof as to violations, errors and unsound practices in each case.
Identify all issues and specific actions needed to correct injustices and eliminate detrimental conditions to protect the best interest of the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Must attend and successfully complete the Inspector General (IG) Course conducted by DAIG, in accordance with Army Regulation 20-1.
- Business travel (TDY) required 50% of the time.
- May require completion of a one-year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of this position.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) Responding to allegations of improprieties or complaints; 2) Conducting fact-finding investigations to protect the best interests of an agency or individual; 3) Preparing inspection reports related to non-compliance of a directive, with recommendations for corrective actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definition below:
Ph.D degree or equivalent graduate degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate level education leading to such a degree related to the position. Degree must be from an accredited college or university. (TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE PROVIDED)
OR
A Combination of specialized experience and education. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate/undergraduate. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal 100.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
