About the Position: Serve as a Public Safety Telecommunicator for dispatching Fire, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and Law Enforcement (LE) responders, monitoring alarms and activating Mass Notification Systems in Army Garrison Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) / 911 Centers.
Duties
Serve as a Public Safety Telecommunicator for dispatching Fire, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and Law Enforcement (LE) responders.
Implement regulations, directives, policies, and protocols that direct work processes.
Prioritize and respond to variety calls for services and determine appropriate methods.
Tracks response times and documents state, local, and military specific law enforcement electronic database systems to support law enforcement and installation access.
Provides advanced emergency medical dispatch life support care through pre-arrival instructions to callers based on program standards at the assigned location.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is subject to shift work where the incumbent is required to work an alternate, rotating work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays).
- Incumbent is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions or base closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
- Incumbent may be required to wear a uniform.
- Incumbent must be a qualified typist. (40 wpm).
- Incumbent must pass a pre-employment; fingerprint based criminal history investigation for any location that accesses Criminal Justice Information Systems.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Emergency Medical Dispatch based on the program standards at the location assigned.
- Incumbent must complete the Department of Defense Telecommunicator I and II or equivalent based on the program standards at the location assigned.
- Incumbent must complete State National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification based on assigned location.
- Incumbent must complete the National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS 100,300, 700, 800, and 907 courses.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes answering emergency 911 calls; dispatching appropriate equipment in emergency situations; performing intervention with distraught emergency callers; and/or maintaining reports and retrieving information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-06).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
