About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the supervisor for multiple shifts, round-the-clock, of Public Safety Dispatchers; consisting of emergency call-takers and emergency dispatchers for Military and Civilian Police, Emergency Medical services, Fire & Emergency services, and Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection (ICID).
Duties
Oversee the day-to-day operations to ensure efficient handling of emergency and non-emergency calls.
Coordinate with emergency responders such as police, fire, and medical services to ensure timely and appropriate response to emergencies.
Develop and enforce protocols and procedures for dispatch operations to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for dispatch staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
Oversee the use and maintenance of dispatch equipment and technology, including radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, and telecommunications equipment.
Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of incidents, including recording information, dispatching units, and maintaining records.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, and prepare reports as required by governing agencies.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of dispatch operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Incumbent must pass a pre-employment; fingerprint based criminal history investigation for any location that accesses Criminal Justice Information Systems.
- Incumbent may be required to wear a uniform.
- This position may require rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position maybe subject to call back, on-call, and mandatory overtime as the mission requires.
- This position requires Basic Life Support Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross within one year.
- This position requires State NCIC certification within 6 months of start date.
- Continuous current certification is a condition of employment. The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch education (CDE) requirements through in-service training and pass in accordance with predetermined course requirements.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Performing and/or coordinating the dispatch of emergency response personnel such as police, fire, and medical units to incidents reported via 911 or other emergency lines; (2) Utilizing specialized dispatching software and/or communication systems to efficiently manage emergency responses and relay information to field units; and (3) Responding to inquiries and/or complaints regarding emergency services and dispatching procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
