This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel in the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Jackson, SC.

Duties

Participate with and actively solicit support for military needs from civilian rental property owners and managers. Assist newly arrived personnel in finding adequate and affordable community housing with the least possible delay. Provide guidance and assistance to personnel in off-post housing matters on a continuing basis. Oversee the housing referral program through locally established policies and procedures and liaisons with civil authorities and property owners and agents. Perform inspections of local off-post housing units to determine adequacy and condition of quarters for military occupancy.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license
• This position is an inclement weather essential position and the incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
• Position may be required after hours call-back for emergencies.
• Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Experience assisting with oversight of a military housing program; (2) Implementing programs and corrective measures for military housing management problems associated with large annual transition rates; and (3) Resolving complex housing program management issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
