This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Executive Officer for Visitor Services, Exhibits and Education Division of the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, Washington, D.C.
Duties
The Capitol Visitor Center is a jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol legislative branch agency. The candidate creates and implements professional development programs for educators, develops and implements distance learning programs and products and assists in the Capitol Visitor Center's delivery of onsite programs for student and general public audiences. The candidate provides leadership of a team to deliver educational programming and must have flexibility in work schedule, including work on weekends, evenings and holidays.

Qualifications
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-11 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. You must meet 2 out of 3 of the specialized experience to qualify.
Candidates for the GS-12 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. You must meet all the specialized experience to qualify. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Leading a team of educators in a museum or similar learning environment to develop and implement historical and/or civics oriented, object-based informal programming for youth, families and K-12 students, including supervising program development and implementation, managing more than one staff member, writing performance appraisals, assigning work, resolving conflicts, and improving performance;
Initiating and developing partnerships with educational institutions that support professional development programs for teachers;
Designing K-12 curriculum based resources or programs for use in museums or similar informal learning environments, and for use in distance learning or as online resources in the content areas of United States civics, history, and/or government
