About the Position: Serves as consultant and advisor to the Office of the Chief of Chaplains (OCCH) SIG Chief and serves as the SIG Chief's representative to OCCH on a wide variety of issues related to the organization and managerial policies, theories, practices and procedures governing religious support programs.
Duties
Supports the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps (CHC) by developing strategic initiatives, executing corresponding engagements, and implementing strategic communication plans.
Analyzes Army religious support missions and functions to identify core capabilities to ensure initiatives are nested, based on a thorough analysis, adequately covering key areas of concern.
Assesses OCCH’s transformation plans and activities that may have an impact on Army religious support organizations and resources.
Reviews emerging policies from Congress, OSD, and HQDA that may impact OCCH’s technical and organizational ability to perform its mission.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The position is eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed “unscheduled telework”.
- One year trial period may be required.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station (25%) of the time.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a term appointment Not-To-Exceed (2) years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Developing strategic initiatives, engagements, and communication plans to support missions, organizations, and policies. 3. Assessing transformation plans and activities to determine impact on organizations and resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
