You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the INFORMATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT of COMMANDER, NAVY REGION NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will review scan results to monitor and evaluate system and network devices for IT cyber security compliance.
You will keep cyber tools up-to-date including, but not limited to, signatures and plug-ins and assist with developing signatures to identify indicators of compromise on clients/servers.
You will advise end users in the implementation of information technology (IT) strategy, policy and guidance.
You will work with internal and external stakeholders to track, remediate, and mitigate findings of non-compliance and develop Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAMs) for non-compliant findings.
You will validate, monitor, and coordinate implementation of patches including IA Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), IA Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVB), and technical advisories; service packs; updates.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following and Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Diagnosing application software problems in response to customer reported incidents.
(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Briefing senior leaders on new database technologies and architectures.
(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Investigating existing information technology (IT) systems to identify potential issues.
In addition to demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
1) Applying Information Assurance (IA) security directives to administer various Automated Information Systems (AIS) and networks; 2) Maintaining deployable cybersecurity audit toolkit (e.g., specialized cyber defense software and hardware scanning system) to support cybersecurity audit missions; 3) Using network security systems to support an organization's IA program. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of education plus percentage of experience must equal 100%.
