You will serve as a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN) in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Network (NNPPNet) Branch which is located within the Information Technology and Cyber Security (IT&CS) Department, Code 109 of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).

Duties

You will support the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS and IMF) Data Center and all Windows servers and systems, databases, related storage devices, and related equipment within PSNS and IMF. You will provide limited and indirect support to PSNS and IMF personnel working on shipboard support as it pertains to ships being maintained at the PSNS and IMF locations. You will perform supervisory and managerial functions in directing, planning, and managing a variety of occupational specialties to include specialized areas of support for desktops, laptops, zero/thin clients, printers, and server datacenters. You will manage Windows server systems/hardware and software assets by analyzing and performing work necessary to plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify systems to solve IT problems. You will exercise technical and administrative supervision of a subordinate staff of personnel engaged in support and technical issues related to Windows servers and supporting systems. You will analyze work requirements and determines staff, equipment and other resources needed to accomplish the work and makes adjustments among divisions when appropriate. You will analyze continuing problems regarding quality of work and the operating effectiveness of the Branch in order to take corrective action.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in NAVSEA 8140.03 for specialty area System Administration level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Directing, planning, or managing a variety of different occupational specialties such as specialized areas of support of desktops, laptops, zero/thin clients, printers, and server datacenters as well as various programs management and other technical support as required. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
