The position is located in the Computer Technology Branch (CTB), Executive Office (EO), Office of Director (OD), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The CTB is responsible for the NIDDK Enterprise Systems (NES) in support of the NIDDK mission. NIDDK conducts and supports research on many of the most serious diseases affecting public health.

Duties

Serves as an Information Security Specialist and is responsible for a wide range of complex assignments and projects relative to information systems and security matters. Advises management on matters related to security architecture. Manages and oversees projects to implement new and/or updated enterprise security architecture or system components. Formulates and implements specific security policies and procedures. Performs comprehensive and in-depth risk and vulnerability analyses on all systems. Works with various internal and external technical experts to run system vulnerability assessments

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) GS-2210 position at the GS-14 level, you must have: IT related experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates you possess each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; Customer Service - works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; Oral Communication - expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations; AND At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of IT tasks: Perform comprehensive and in-depth risk and vulnerability analyses on organizational systems; develop and implement plans to remediate vulnerabilities; review proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks; and lead a team of employees in the information technology security field.
