You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC in the PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.
Duties
You will remove, repair, overhaul, and provide installation, alignment, troubleshooting, modifying, and testing of Aircraft Launch and Recovery
Equipment Rapid Securing Device and components.
You will provide removal and reinstallation of various mechanical components in the shop and can include removal and installation on board naval ships pier side and in dry-dock.
You will identify, tag, and inspect piping systems, connections, foundations, fasteners and other parts for reinstallation or replacement.
You will clean, inspect, and perform repairs or overhauls on these mechanical components and system sub-assemblies
You will reassembled following established work procedures and appropriate technical manuals.
You will utilize wrenches, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, portable machine tools for drilling holes and grinding, and various gauges in the repair, assembly, installation and testing of components or sub-assemblies.
You will provide training and technical guidance to lower level mechanics including WG-08 Marine Machinery Repairers, apprentices and military personnel

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position may require the ability to lift/carry 45 pounds.
- This position may require the ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- This position requires the ability to work onboard ships.
