You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC in the Production Department of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

You will disassemble, clean, inspect and assess parts and components to determine the extent of wear and damage in justification of re-use or disposal. You will clean, inspect, and perform repairs/overhauls on mechanical components and system sub-assemblies following guidelines and procedures set forth in work packages, appropriate technical manuals, drawings and blue prints. You will protect machined and/or critical surfaces, install FME covering and identify, tag, and inspect piping system, connections, foundations, fasteners, and other parts. You will provide assistance, training and technical guidance to lower level mechanics including WG-08 Marine Machinery Repairers, apprentices and military personnel assigned to the production shops. You will maintain work spaces, tools, parts, and equipment in clean and orderly fashion at all times.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and set up equipment and components that weigh up to 45 pounds.
