About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Soldier Recovery Unit, Cadre Detachment, Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Deputy Operations Officer and Security Manager for the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU), providing support in the planning, coordinating, and synchronization of the use of facilities, equipment, and manpower in support of the SRU.
Duties
Analyze operational support requirements/requests from higher Headquarters (HQ) and other Department of Defense (DOD) agencies.
Inform Action Officers of delays, adjustments in suspense actions, and priorities or other major changes as they occur.
Plan work, establish priorities, directs, reviews and accepts or rejects the work of military and civilian personnel assigned to the section.
Perform Action Officer duties regarding Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) Operations, training and plans.
Conducts mission analysis of Operation Orders (OPORDs) and Fragment Orders (FRAGOs) assigned by Command leadership.
Evaluate tasks and their impact on the Command’s mission and resources through analysis of time-sensitive messages.
Regularly assist in the setup of briefings as directed by the Command team on operational matters involving the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU).
Prepare and present written and verbal information and decision briefings for the Command leadership in accordance with Army doctrine and policies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel security investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3, Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- This position may require incumbent to work evenings/nights, extended hours, weekends, holidays or other schedules common to command operations.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) gathering operational information to determine mission requirements, 2) conducting analysis of operational support requirements to identify issues, 3) reviewing established regulations and directives to ensure compliance, and 4) preparing material to deliver verbal and written information briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management, Business Administration, Operations Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
