This National Guard position is for a SELF-DIRECTED HARM PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T0031P01 and is part of the FL JFHQ, National Guard.
Duties
As a SELF-DIRECTED HARM PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) (TITLE 5), GS-0101-12, you will act as subject matter expert (SME) on Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP) as applied to Self-directed harm prevention. Advances policies outside of the existing Resilience, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention (R3SP) (Army) and Suicide Prevention (Air) office for equities specific to self-directed harm primary prevention. Facilitates dialogue between state programs, divisions, directorates, and other areas to capture existing upstream drivers and measures relevant to the earliest prevention of self-directed harm. Maintains insight into the National Guard Bureau (NGB) IPP office to track efforts, measurements, and councils. Supports engagement in existing state tools and programs. Establishes measures of effectiveness in the primary prevention of self-directed harm. Consults with and obtains consensus with NGB IPP SME cell. Supports the Joint Force Headquarters' (JFHQ) IPP Officer in the development and execution of The Adjutant General's (TAG) primary prevention strategic plan. Assists TAG, Assistant TAG, IPP Officer, directorate, and division-level leadership with data-informed courses of action to appropriately resource self-directed harm primary prevention activities and requirements throughout the state. Establishes, revises, and reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organizational design to eliminate barriers to mission accomplishment. Develops performance measures to meet statutory and regulatory compliance, implements quality improvement plans, and assesses the effectiveness of TAG's IPP program. Advise leaders at all levels of best practices and evidence-based programs, policies, and plans that increase primary prevention capacity within their organizations. Conducts educational sessions and briefings for JFHQ leadership and JFHQ Program Managers (i.e., State Family Programs Director, Chaplains, State Equal Opportunity Manager, Resilience, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention Program Manager, IPP SMEs) regarding the primary prevention of self-directed harm. Works with IPP Officer to elevate promising practices within the state that relate to the early prevention of self-directed harm and report findings up to the NGB. Coordinates multidisciplinary evaluations. Consults with managers in areas that impact self-directed harm to ensure combined prevention trainings are coordinated to promote and incorporate evidence-based practices and learning objectives and designed for the National Guard (NG) with cross-functional impact.

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to current on-board US Federal employees interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements as a Sexual Violence Prevention Specialist (PREV WF).
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS11 Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-11 level or the equivalent which provides knowledge and/or experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources. Must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions.
EMPLOYMENT NOTES:
1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
4. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
5. May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
6. The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver's license is mandatory.
7. Must be able to obtain required certifications, as applicable.
8. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
