You will serve as a Transportation Assistant in the Navy Household Goods Personal Property Shipping Office of NAVSUP FLC SD GF.
Duties
You will act as a single point of contact for inbound and outbound shipment management.
You will arrange for the pickup and/or delivery of personal property shipments.
You will determine and advise on entitlements or procedures related to, for example, temporary storage of goods, weight allowances, prohibited items, and shipment of unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and household goods.
You will respond to all member/employee and TSP requests for information/assistance.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position will be required to obtain and possess a Government vehicle operator permit.
Qualifications
For the GS-05 grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge and application of a general body of transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a variety of interrelated transportation support assignments in connection with shipment management of personal property by government or commercial means. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Assist with the determination of entitlements or procedures, related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances, prohibited items, and shipment of unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and household goods; 2) Assist with selecting carriers and arranging for the pickup, delivery, and storage of personal property; and 3) Utilize automated information systems to input/correct a range of shipment information or track shipments.
For the GS-06 grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge and application of an extensive body of transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard transportation support assignments and resolve a wide range of problems in connection with shipment management of personal property by government or commercial means. Examples of specialized experience include the following: 1) Assist with the determination of entitlements or procedures, related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances, prohibited items, and shipment of unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and household goods; 2) Assist with selecting carriers and arranging for the pickup, delivery, and storage of personal property; 3) Serve as the contact point for resolving problems related to shipment and delivery assignments and transportation service providers; and 4) Utilize automated information systems to input/correct a range of shipment information or track shipments.

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
For the GS-05 grade level: completion of at least 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR If you have a combination of education and specialized experience that equate to one year.

.For the GS-06 grade level: there is no education substitution in this series at this grade level.
As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
