This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Major Range Test Facility Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve a Supervisory Physical Security Specialist for the Installation Management Command at White Sands Missile Range.

Duties

Adhere to the general guidance, policies, and objectives of the overall security program to accomplish assigned projects as planned. Provide advice and/or recommendations to the Director of Emergency Services on all physical security matters. Administrative supervises conduct of formal investigations, briefs investigating officers, provides guidance and monitors preparation of report, coordinates with other staff elements Program annual physical security and follow-up surveys and inspections of activities. Develop and supervise contract performance. Evaluate work performance of subordinates, and gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employee. Conduct physical security special studies and surveys to meet the demands of organizational missions and practices. Prepare, maintain and update the arms, ammunition and explosives and physical security plans as they relate to the IMCOM and various tenant missions. Has oversight and of the Installation Access Control policies and procedures and maintains operational command over the Department of the Army Security Guards (DASGs). Present orientation and class on physical security to security representatives/activity personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • his position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes 1) Planning and recommending the installation of physical security systems to ensure the safety and security of facilities and personnel; 2) Developing and/or implementing procedures and practices in an effort to detect and prevent physical security vulnerabilities; 3) Assigning responsibilities for resolving, security issues to cover multiple security objectives; and 4) Utilizing knowledge of various security equipment and devices to implement protective methods and security procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
