About the Position: Serves as a Range Scheduler for the Range Branch, Training Division, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security.
Duties
Applies a seasoned knowledge of military training situations involving all types of combat (Ground and Aerial) and tactical operational scenarios with primary focus on airborne and live maneuver and demolitions training.
Assists in maintaining the RFMSS for the upcoming six month period and maintains records of utilization and ensures a conflict free environment for training.
Provides training resource scheduling assistance to Fort Bragg units, US Army Reserve, US Army National Guard and other users.
Serves as the mobilization planner in regards to ranges and training areas.
Serves as the installation building facility assignment manager for training purposes, and responsible for the overall management of real property assigned to support installation and tenant activities.
Serves as the main point of contact for live fire, maneuver, artillery, and demolitions coordination, scheduling, and deconfliction, including the building of surface danger area diagrams.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Range Safety Certification Examination.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid state driver’s license for operation of government vehicles in the performance of work. May be required to travel to attend various meetings and conferences.
- May occasionally be required to work odd hours, including nights and weekends. Employee may be called back to work to support mobilization requirements.
- Some overnight travel may be required up to 10%, normally not to exceed one week in duration. Some weekend work, and work beyond the normal operating hours, may also be required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing the scheduling and allocation procedures for a range, training complex, or training facilities; AND 2) Providing training resource assistance and monitoring range operations for compliance with correct scheduling procedures; AND 3) Utilizing automated systems to maintain official records; AND 4) Posses knowledge of training situations involving all types of combat and tactical operational scenarios with primary focus on airborne and live maneuver and demolitions training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
