Duties

Serve as Deputy Division Chief under the administrative direction of the Division Chief providing technical advice in aspects of research and development activities involving complex engineering, scientific efforts, and resource management oversight. Principal expert on research and development programs, oversees planning and development of resources to include policies, concepts, mission controlling procedures, guidance, organization and functions within the division. Responsible for overall planning, administration, and direction of personnel; establishes priorities, objectives, and advises on technical and administrative matters. Supervise financial processes, product engineering, acquisition logistics, human capital management, strategic planning and business operations, as well as efforts to improve tools for engineering marketing for the directorate.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a three year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

(3) Ability to communicate professionally with highly technical internal and external stakeholders involved in engineering, research and development. (4) Managing or supporting budget planning, execution, program initiation and allocation of organizational resources including policies and concepts with experience handling competing priorities in the delivery of chemical and biological solutions.
