About the Position: This position will serve as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) for the National Simulation Center (NSC).
Eligible for situational telework ONLY, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework".
Duties
Prepare and proofread completed correspondence for accuracy, spelling, grammar, formatting, and proper syntax.
Utilize software programs to prepare spreadsheets, edit databases, process word documents, etc.
Scheduling meetings, appointments, and conferences.
Coordinate travel arrangements, to include travel orders, developing itineraries, scheduling appointments for passport and visa procurement, etc.
Prepare requests and authorizations for Department of Defense (DoD) personnel business travel in Defense Travel System (DTS).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent will be subject to a Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Utilizing office automation tools to prepare reports and
compose correspondence; such as Microsoft Office Suite; 2) Managing information and data to track due dates for tasks, projects, and training, etc.; AND 3) Preparing travel itineraries, orders, vouchers utilizing an automated travel system such as Defense Travel System (DTS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities
necessary to do the work of the position such as Management or Business Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the
computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
