About the Position: Serve as a Physical Security Specialist for the Installation and is responsible for physical security plans, procedures and inspections as well as key control. This position is with IMCOM, Directorate of Emergency Services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.
Duties
Conduct physical security site-surveys to identify technical security equipment required for the protection of US Army Assets.
Prepare evaluation reports substantiating findings and recommendations for corrective action after inspections are completed.
Conduct technical comprehensive physical security inspections and surveys of mission essential/vulnerable/critical areas, activities and facilities.
Recommend security measures for the physical security upgrade of facilities, organizations, and activities on the installation.
Recommend the development of plans, policies and procedures for safeguarding government property and material.
Perform extensive site-surveys, studies and analysis of installation physical security requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination. The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, such as extensive walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling and similar activities.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain the physical security course (7H-3aD/830-ASI H-3) conducted by the US Army Military Police School (USAMPS).
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) assisting with the development or implementation of security policies; 2) inspecting facilities to determine physical security requirements; 3) researching security regulations; AND 4) analyzing information relating to designated security requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Education
