You will serve as a Supervisory Fire Protection Inspector in the Fire and Emergency Services Department of NAS KEY WEST located in Key West, Florida.

Duties

You will advise senior leaders on fire prevention or fire protection systems inspections and maintenance programs. You will serve as the Chief Fire Inspector with overall program responsibility for Fire Prevention operations and direct supervision of all Fire Inspectors. You will oversee fire safety and code enforcement inspections, investigations, public education, plans review, and are responsible for the installation fire warden programs.

  • This position is 60 hours weekly, 120 hours bi-weekly embedded schedule.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing such as firefighter ensembles weighing 50-60 pounds.
  • The incumbent must possess the ability to lift and move heavy objects, such as charged fire hoses, fire extinguishers equipment and incapacitated persons. Climbs ladders and works at various heights, requires above average agility and dexterity

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Responding to medical and fire emergencies in the capacity of leadership role; 2) Reviewing sites of hazardous materials incidents and fires to inspect/evaluate the scene; 3) Presenting public fire protection and life safety educational programs to general public and tenant commands; and 4) Preparing correspondence and inspection reports, maintaining reports, performing research, interpreting codes, and implementing policy. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Hazmat Technician, Airport Firefighter, Firefighter I/II and NREMT. These certifications must have been awarded by DOD, IFSAC or Pro-board to meet the requirement. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application to verify eligibility.
