You will serve as a Physical Scientist/ Oceanographer in the Full Spectrum GEOINT (FSG) Branch of the GEOINT Analysis Division, Warfighting Support center (WSC), Stennis Space Center, MS .
Duties
You will serve as an oceanographic analyst for the production of environmental assessments in support of Undersea Warfare and other Fleet operations and exercises.
You will prepare data and climatologies of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, sound speed, currents, and tides for specific areas.
You will analyze oceanographic data from multiple internal and external sources such as observational databases, numerical models, and literature.
You will identify typical and probable ocean variability and clearly explain expected seasonal trends in ocean conditions.
You will provide technical guidance, training, and advice to junior personnel as well as government contractors.
You will develop, test, evaluate, and document new methods, techniques, algorithms, and data sources for future requirements of Branch capabilities.
You will serve as Lead Oceanographer for field duties aboard oceanographic survey missions.
You will advise the Senior Navoceano Representative on all physical oceanography matters, and ensuring quality physical oceanographic data collection by the survey team.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
For GS:12- In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Applicant's resume must demonstrate the following specialized experience:
Experience in interpreting, evaluating, and integrating Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems and intelligence information from various sources related to Oceanographic, Bathymetric, Hydrographic, and METOC capabilities.
Experience with knowledge of hydrographic and bathymetric data collection and dissemination methods, along with an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
Experience in using GIS and Remote Sensing tools to manipulate and evaluate bathymetric, hydrographic, and remote sensing exploitation techniques applicable to NP2.
Experience in utilizing algorithms and processes to assess and extract information from datasets and databases, ensuring Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) fusion of oceanography, hydrography, bathymetry, imagery data, and other large datasets.

Basic Requirements:
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basic Requirements:

Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.

Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
