Duties

You will collect meter readings, inspect and assess utility systems, coordinate outage requests and new connections, and engage with customers on energy management issues. You will evaluate, review, and coordinate designs across a range of utility projects. You will prepare forecasts for utility distribution system planning and budget preparation. You will analyze utility equipment and services to assess capabilities, evaluate service effectiveness, and recommend improvement to service and operating methods. You will coordinate field inspections to complete facility maintenance projects. You will serve as the liaison with tenant command on matters of energy usage and conservation.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For Non-Federal applicants: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Modifying standard practices and adapting equipment or techniques to solve a variety of utility systems problems; 2) Utilizing proven industry practices and hands-on workshop skills to enhance utilities engineering design; 3) Reviewing and monitoring large scale utility construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable objectives, standards, and requirements; 4) Interpreting utility engineering plans, specifications, and drawings and providing detailed reports and summaries to engineering personnel; 5) Providing oversight to ensure quality throughout construction or operation of equipment and facilities. **NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for the position .** For current Federal applicants: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
