This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Atlanta Federal Records Center. The incumbent is responsible for managing and coordinating functions relating to the creation, control, transfers, security, storage, maintenance, and disposition of federal records carried out at the facility.
Duties
As a Supervisory Archives Specialist, you will:
Negotiate with and assist other agencies in planning, directing, and coordinating a wide range of services on all holdings of the facility, which involves numerous record groups from federal agencies in a multi-state area.
Supervise a subordinate section staff by making recommendations on determining personnel resource requirements and selection of personnel; changes in workflow and operating procedures; quality review programs; disciplinary actions; establishment, issuance, and application of performance standards for performance appraisals and award recommendations.
Develop and implement plans and procedures to maximize space utilization. Conduct and document studies to determine adequacy of space, facilities, and equipment for the storage and servicing of records in the facility.
Review ARCIS disposal reports, and associated documents, to ensure that all accessions listed on the reports are properly scheduled and eligible for disposal.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11, you must have one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-9 grade level that is directly related to the position and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
Leading a small component of a team, program, or project; AND
Analyzing records storage methods to preserve records; AND
Developing and implementing plans and procedures to maximize space utilization of record storage.
OR
EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related. Education must be in a related field of study.
OR
COMBINATION: You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. Details on combining education and experience are provided in the online questionnaire.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09level for 52 weeks.
