You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the MATERIAL SUPPORT DIVISION, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will be the primary liaison for the Code 200 advanced planning support effort to develop the technical requirements to procure material that is not readily available in the National Stock System.
You will carry out tasks, methods, procedures, and computations based on oral instructions and/or precedents, guidelines, and standards.
You will keep the supervisor informed of progress and potentially controversial problems, concerns, issues, or other matters.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying knowledge of a wide range of engineering theories and concepts.
Experience resolving a variety of complex problems associated with various engineering disciplines and in a variety of unique work situations.
Experience applying technical requirements to procure material that is not readily available in support of maintenance, overhaul, and repair of critical shipboard systems on submarines.
Experience applying a practical understanding of the manufacturing processes to fabricate the repair parts used in the construction of submarines.
Experience monitoring work for compliance to technical and contract requirements.
FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying knowledge of theories, concepts, and principles in the technical engineering field.
Experience interpreting requirements, defining procedures, and validating material documentation is in compliance with contract requirements and NAVSEA material program requirements.
Experience identifying, evaluating, and recommending solutions to resolve technical engineering problems and issues.
Experience working with engineers and scientists in a team setting to analyze research and testing requirements.
