About the Position: This position is located at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia.
Duties
Make recommendations on personnel actions such as selection of subordinates, performance requirements, promotions, reassignments and / or other status changes of assigned personnel.
Plan, coordinate and execute work assignments on a daily or project to project basis within the instructions and time limits provided.
Ensure that arrangements are made for adequate personnel, materials, and equipment at the work site.
Assign tasks to subordinates and explains work requirements, methods and procedures.
Assure that equipment and supplies are maintained and used properly
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires the employee to wear a uniform.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook Supervisor ~ without more than normal supervision. I can lead workers as a regular assignment; and/or I have organized material, tools and equipment common to the trade; and/or I have helped training new workers; and /or I have supervised cooks in a hospital setting; and/or I have interpreted oral and written instructions for workers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work involves continual standing and walking and stooping, bending, turning, reaching, carrying, pushing, and pulling and loading. Frequent testing or moving of objects weighing up to 40 pounds (e.g., utensils or containers of food), with occasional lifting of heavier items (e.g., pans of meat) with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in kitchen area that is well lit but often hot, humid and noisy. Incumbent is exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. Incumbent is subject to danger of slipping on wet floors that have been recently mopped or where food has been spilled and is subject to possible cuts from knives and burns from steam, hot food, stoves, and hot grease and water.
