Duties

Leads a staff of 3 or more NA-04 and NA-06 cooks in the preparation of a variety of menu items. Receives instructions from manager or supervisor on duty and passes assignments down to individual members of the group being led. Checks work in progress and assures that all procedures are followed and that deadlines are met. Reports work progress to supervisor and obtains information in order to handle problems that arise during work. Works along with other workers, setting the pace performing non-supervisory work at the NA-06 level. Prepares a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements. Follows recipes to prepare menu items. Adjusts recipes for larger or smaller quantities. Roasts a variety of meats. Grills, broils, steams, and deep fry's foods. Apportions foods for family style servings as well as for plate service. Prepares vegetables and cold food platters. Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items. Assures that all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and available to employees. Keeps working area clean in accordance with standard sanitation requirements.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination. Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements.
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.

Qualifications

Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision. Demonstrated work experience directly related to the duties to be performed.
