About the Position: This position is assigned to the 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Duties

Responsible for surveillance of the installation food service contract and military food service operations. Determine contractor and/or military effectiveness and conformance to contractual and regulatory requirements. Review performance of contractor and/or military personnel and address any defects or failures in accordance with special conditions and technical specifications. Evaluate quality assurance program effectiveness by reviewing food service technical data. Evaluate dining facility operations to include purchase and receipt of rations, inventory control, food preparation, production, serving, sanitation, equipment usage, administration and management, to ensure an acceptable quality level is maintained.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The incumbent of this position will be required to work under an alternate work schedule.
  • Arrival and departure times will vary from day to day depending on the monthly random quality assurance evaluation schedule. Duty hours may begin as early as 4:30 a.m. or end as late as 7:30 p.m.
  • The incumbent of this position will be required to work several weekends a month.
  • The incumbent of this position must be able to complete a formal certified training program in food sanitation within three months of entry into the position and maintain certification every four years thereafter.
  • This position will require incumbent to stand and walk throughout a crowded and active dining facility for a maximum of four hours at a time where areas may be excessively hot and humid or consist of greasy, wet and slippery floors.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). -OR- Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Food Service Management, Quality Management, Quality Assurance, or another related field. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
