About the Position: This position is with the Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County. Bordering the installation to the north are the towns of Waynesville, St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive to the east along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the west of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Direct and manage the installation Food Service program.
Direct necessary actions to plan, establish and develop overall operational logistics criteria, and ensures the allocation and proper use of resources.
Maintain liaison with staff elements, units/organizations, lateral commands, and other agencies to determine impact of plans and policies.
Perform on-going evaluations of the Installation’s food program doctrine, policy, plans, procedures, operations, and support systems with an emphasis on the management and a view toward improvements and recommendations to the commander.
Review accomplishments of the Installation Food Program for technical adequacy, consistency and compliance with policies, procedures, directives, etc.
The incumbent supervises civilian personnel who are responsible for the food service programs.
Oversee contractors engaged in food services contracts.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain any food service safety certifications required by TBMED 530-Tri Serviced Food Code and Army Regulation 30-22 Army Food Program.
- Position requires temporary business travel approximately 25% of the time. Travel may includesite visits to stateside and overseas locations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) managing a large full contracted food service program/operation; 2) ensuring funding requirements for food service operations are included in the annual budget (e.g., food service operating supplies, life-cycle equipment replacement, food service equipment maintenance, etc.); 3) monitor compliance with food sanitation provisions; and 4) utilizing automated systems to track all food service activities (e.g., the Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS)). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
