About the Position: Serves as a Human Resource (HR) Specialist responsible for survivor/beneficiary benefits and entitlements working in the Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Operations Division (CMAOD), Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Branch (CMAB). Position is located at Human Resources Command (HRC), The Adjutant General Directorate (TAGD), at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Duties
Tracks, provides over site and facilitates execution of benefits and entitlements of assigned cases.
Verifies personnel information through various HR Information Systems to include, but not limited to, IPPS-A, the Defense Casualty Information Processing System, and the Service members Group Life Insurance Online Enrollment System.
Routinely answers and responds to telephonic and written inquiries within 24 hours.
Provides recommendations for coordinating support and facilitates communication with other supporting casualty community stakeholders.
Utilizes information from key stakeholders to construct, review and assemble accurate and timely tracking mechanisms to ensure that a variety of benefits and entitlements are disbursed in a timely manner and received by the eligible beneficiaries.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.
- May include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment NTE 1 Year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated systems to verify accuracy of personnel records and track human resources actions; compiling and responding to inquiries in a timely manner; assisting with coordination of actions to ensure timely and accurate assistance is provided; utilizing automated systems to track. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management or Human Resources Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
