Duties
As a Public Health Advisor you will:
Analyze existing or proposed systems, strategies, services, or other health-related matters;
Provide technical advice and assistance in managing, and evaluating grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and other awards;
Plan, develop, and implement public health and/or school health programs in collaboration with local, state, other Federal and/or international governments and various public, non-profit, and private and health-related organizations;
Establish systematic methods for program execution and advocacy that includes the identification of objectives, evaluation criteria, and legal and regulatory compliance requirements;
Conduct and assist in the development and delivery of training courses (e.g., community planning, prevention and intervention, outreach strategies, data collection, etc.);
Establish and maintain liaison with health and education professionals for the purpose of promoting programs of major impact and consequence;
Review congressional and legislative actions; assess impact on public health and/or school health program activities, initiatives, and policies; and initiates action accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: experience related to school health and school-aged youth should have experience in one or more of the following areas: school health services, school nutrition environment and services, physical education activity, family, school, and community engagement, healthy eating, management of chronic conditions, food allergies, health education, sexual/reproductive health, mental health, violence prevention, or substance use prevention.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
