About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the HQ Security Forces Assistance Command, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff G2, For Liberty, NC 28301-5000.

Duties

Serves as Security Specialist within U.S. Army Security Force Assistance Command (SFAC). Provides expert technical advice, assistance, and consultative service for Personnel Security, Information Security, Foreign Disclosure and Industrial Security and Security training program related to those disciplines. Responsible for authoritative information and service for the Personnel Security program. Serves as Foreign Disclosure Representative, coordinating and determining disclosure actions. Provides support of Information Security function in compliance with proper policies and procedures. Assists with Security Education Training Awareness (SETA) program.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required 10% of the time.
• May be required to work overtime/irregular schedules or extended hours due to exercises, national special security events, or during national security crises.
• This position requires obtaining the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Education

To substitute education for the required experience for the GG-11 grade level, applicant must have a closely related (CR) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
