About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Network West, under the Defense Health Agency. The DHN Mission is to enhance overall access to care for beneficiaries; improve coordination, standardization, and best practices across the military health System; and provide more opportunities for military medical providers to get training needed to meet readiness goals by supporting a nationwide, geographically dispersed group of Military Medical Treatment Facilities.
Duties
Serve as the Chief of Staff (Cos) for the Defense Health Network West, and is responsible for the management and execution of business activities, critical support services, and long-range strategic planning for the Networks.
Direct the Network planning and execution of financial processes, manpower and personnel, information management; strategic planning; personnel resource assignments and skill development; and oversees other critical services.
Ensure that all organizational programs, plans, and policies are systematically integrated into an overall plan of operation for the Defense Health Agency and the Network.
Exercise broad delegated authority for planning, directing and evaluating the Directorate’s financial and human resources.
Maintain a continuous program of review and analysis to assess the progress and effectiveness of the organization in relation to program objectives, budgetary limitations, schedules and priorities.
Identify problem areas, coordinates corrective action and directs changes to implement improvements as necessary.
Exercise supervisory responsibilities and managerial authority to set long range goals and objectives, translate objectives into specific projects, and determine program emphasis.
Exercise supervisory responsibilities and managerial authority to plan for long range staffing and organization needs, manage organizational changes, and decide on the full range of personnel actions affecting the Directorate staff.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
