About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada.
Duties
Serves as the Lead Operations Specialist in the Operations and Plans Branch, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mob and Security, Fort Drum, New York.
Communicates assignments to the team, indicating the project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, program issues under review and deadlines for completion.
Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work accomplishments for the team, as well as administrative information.
Tracks ongoing and planned operations and reports their status to local supervisors and higher headquarters.
Coordinates all directorate of special staff inputs to the development of garrison plans and/or orders.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Tier 3 Secret Security Clearance is required.
- This is a mission essential position.
- This position requires a valid sate driver's license.
- The incumbent may be required to work 12-hour shifts in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Fort Drum, during deployments/redeployments and other contingency operations.
- This position requires the incumbent to either possess or obtain the following FEMA Courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, in accordance with Headquarters Department of Army Exord 693-06, dtd 17 Dec 2005.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing regulations, policies, procedures, and techniques to mission-essential operational issues; conducting projects to evaluate ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations; facilitating the day-to-day operations managing the taskings assigned to the directorate; and producing operational decisions to support mission requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
