About the Position: Serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military) for the Directorate of Human Resources, Military Personnel Division at Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Some duties are at the full performance level and closer than normal supervision is required at the lower grades, IF needed. Retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in answering questions, Review incoming regulations and directives relating to administration and military programs, functions, and procedures Process personnel actions such as in/out processing, updating/correcting personnel records, military correspondence, maintenance of files, records disposition, preparation of military awards, and retirement applications and benefits. Ensure that the force maintain deployment readiness by preparing correspondence, letters, statistical reports, orders. Review monthly promotion rosters to provide promotion certificates to those who qualify. Maintain liaison with Department of the Army Human Resources Command and all Fort Leonard Wood organizations with military personnel, to include tenants.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Processing all personnel actions with assistance if necessary; 2) Preparing documents such as correspondence, letters, and statistical reports with supervisor input if necessary; and 3) Reviewing records with assistance to ensure all of the Soldiers information is accurate. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailClericalComputer LiteracyCustomer Service Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
