You will serve as a TRAINING RESOURCE AND RANGE PLANNER in the Range and Training Area Management Division (RTAMD) of MCIWEST G-3/5 of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.
Duties
You will provide primary planning oversight on a multitude of projects and initiatives relative to range and training area design/construction from concept, design, and completion.
You will plan and develop products that implement user requirements, recommend the conceptual redesign of ranges through the use of sound engineering and training principles.
You will prepare and coordinate funding requests.
You will provide special reports and evaluations as they relate to range development, training activities, and training resource management.
You will provide analysis, review, and recommendations regarding operational impact with respect to environmental review documents to include Biological Assessment, Biological Opinion, Environmental Assessment, and Categorical Exclusion.
You will provide planning, programming, review, and validation of requirements for ranges, equipment, and facilities for existing and developing weapon systems and training standards.
You will evaluate military training operations that occur on MCIWEST-MCB CAMPEN ranges and training areas in order to develop plans and support current and future training requirements.
You will use knowledge of USMC systems approaches to support the development of three dimensional live-fire and maneuver training on ranges and training areas.
You will Incorporate environmental compliance requirements to support evolving and emerging range and range training area (RTA) requirements.
Implement knowledge of laws, policies, regulations and precedents applicable to MCB Camp Pendleton and the functions of Operations and Training Department to include DOD, Joint Staff, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, OSHA, Endangered Species Act.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Evaluating and analyzing range and training areas to support the development of programs and plans for the long-range maintenance and support of training ranges and facilities, validating training requirements, formulating training solutions, and developing and managing program execution in support of design, procurement and construction of training ranges, facilities and devices.
