About the Position: Responsible for providing clerical and technical assistance ito the Directorate of Emergency Services. Ensures proper assembly of reports and other assigned administrative requirements. Responds to questions regarding general matter in areas of responsibility and serves as point of contact for those areas.
Duties
Perform a variety of duties associated with the collection of information, researching records, files, regulations, policy statements, and mathematical computations with other organizational elements.
Independently perform a variety of budgetary, clerical, and statistical functions to support budget formulation
Complete segments of studies and formulates findings,
Review incoming correspondence and messages for items pertinent to division activities, determines appropriate action persons, and provides Chief, Police Services Division with copy of tasked items and/or those having suspense’s.

Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing management clerical and technical support in the areas of budgeting, manpower and personnel administration; 2) utilizing computer software to create spreadsheets, documents and prepare reports; 3) Utilizing automated systems to retrieve data for research or briefings; 4) reviewing outgoing correspondence for accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
AND
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer error.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
