About the Position: This position is located at Directorate Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS). Fort Hood rests in the beautiful hill and lake country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove.

Duties

Serve as Management Assistant with responsibility for providing clerical and technical assistance in support of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS), Plans and Operations Division (PLO). Maintain suspense roster to ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries received. Enter budgetary information on a wide variety of related forms, schedules, and reports. Prepare manpower reports on civilian personnel matter for recurring and special reports which may go to higher HQ. Receive/screen telephone calls and visitors. Coordinate all payroll amendments to ensure timely and accurate processing.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or Department of Defense (DoD) license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • The skills of a fully qualified typist are required.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Business Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
