About the Position: Engineering Technician within the Directorate of Public Work working directly under the supervision of the Civil Engineer and Senior Engineering Technician.
Duties
Support a wide variety of projects in the areas of planning, environmental compliance, installation operations, emergency services and security.
Assist with developing installation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) maps of ERDC property and facilities.
Utilize Facility and Maintenance computer programs to enter and track requirements.
Assist with transferring existing data to geographic information system (GIS) platforms.
Prepare plans for facility repairs and renovations.
Update existing map data with asset information.
Present information by several graphical means.
Requirements

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project and this pay band includes the General Schedule grade equivalent to GS-1 through GS-4. To qualify at the DE-01 levels, you must meet the minimum requirements below.
In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume. Experience Required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least months six of general experience which includes (1) any type of work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with operation of engineering facilities, systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices and materials AND six months of equivalent specialized experience in the Federal service which includes methods of techniques of engineering or architecture such as basic drafting and/or surveying.

Education: Successful completion of two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Experience and Education: When combining education with experience, first determine your total qualifying (related) education as a percentage of the education required; then determine your experience as a percentage of the experience required; finally, add the two percentages (see questionnaire). The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
